Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri, Cypriot Foreign Minister Yannis Kasulidis and Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias held a trilateral meeting.
During the periodic meeting, the ministers stressed their countries' commitment to the tripartite consultation mechanism and partnership to achieve peace, stability and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean region. At the high-level tripartite summits, held in Cairo and Nicosia in 2014 and 2015, the ministers confirmed their commitment to continue consultations at all levels. The ministers reviewed relations between Egypt and the European Union. The Cypriot and Greek ministers welcomed Egypt's keenness on increasing cooperation with the European Union in political and economic fields. They stressed the importance of the European Union's support for Egypt in its fight against terrorism. The conferees also discussed the latest developments in the field of combating international terrorism through comprehensive and sustained international community teamwork. The situations in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya as well as the Iranian nuclear deal were also high on the agenda of the summit. |
