President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Monday 28/9/2015 his French counterpart Francois Hollande for talks on distinguished relations between the two countries, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
Sisi thanked Hollande for facilitating the conclusion of Egypt's deal to purchase two Mistral helicopter carriers, he said. The President reviewed Egypt's economic program, which includes development projects that are currently being carried out, as well as the Suez Canal development project, which includes the establishment of a number of harbors and two industrial zones in East Port Said and Ain Sokhna. Investment in this project provides promising opportunities for production and export from Egypt to Arab and African markets. Egypt will establish a number of new cities, including the new administrative capital, Al-Alamain and El-Galala, the President said, expressing Egypt's wish to provide these cities with renewable energy. Egypt is concerned with implementing these projects in cooperation with French and European companies, the President said. The French President welcomed the idea and said he plans to encourage French companies to have more investments in Egypt. He asserted his country's concern with reaching stability and calm in the Middle East in order to create a favorable atmosphere for settling disputes and problems facing countries in the region, whether domestic conflicts or combating terrorism. As for the Palestinian issue, the French President asserted his country's concern with reaching just and lasting peace in the region. He reviewed the ongoing contacts for settling the Palestinian issue and stressed the need to move forward with the peace process to avoid any threats by terrorist groups. Reaching just and comprehensive peace and the establishment of the Palestinian State on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital will provide a new regional reality and a better future for the coming generations on the economic and security arenas, President Sisi said. As for the Syrian crisis, Sisi asserted the importance of the political solution in this respect in order to maintain the entity of the state and its institutions. It is necessary to avoid further deterioration in the crisis of refugees, he said, stressing the need to start reconstruction efforts after reaching a political settlement that allows the return of Syrian refugees. Concerning the Libyan crisis, the French President asserted the importance of forming a legitimate national unity government to facilitate cooperation with the Libyan side and to provide its needs in the various fields. President Sisi underscored Egypt's support to the UN efforts to form a national unity government in parallel with the importance combating terrorism and extremism and avoid the flow of money and weapons to terrorist groups there. |
