President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received at his residence in Tokyo the presidents of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems in the presence of Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker, International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr and head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority Ahmed Darwish.

At the beginning of the meeting, Sisi said that Japan is an important partner for Egypt, adding that he is keen on boosting economic ties between Egypt and Japan during his first official visit to Tokyo, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.

Egypt is considered an important hub for the Japanese industrials, Sisi said, adding that Egypt is also considered a launching pad to the markets in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

The two officials of the Japanese company also reviewed the projects which are currently being studied in order to be implemented in Egypt, especially in the energy sphere including restructuring a number of existing energy stations and providing high efficiency turbines to power generation stations from natural gas along with other projects, according to the spokesman.

Sisi welcomed the expansion of the company's activities in Egypt, pointing out to the promising opportunities in the country, especially in the economic zone of the Suez Canal, which includes ports, industrial areas and logistics center.

Egypt's new approach for cooperation with partners and investors is based on removing obstacles which hinder new investments and taking all necessary steps which aim to develop direct investments, Sisi affirmed.

The two officials said that they plan to visit Egypt soon to get acquainted with the available investment opportunities, voicing their confidence in the future of investment in Egypt, added the spokesman.

After the meeting, Sisi left for the premises of the Cabinet's office in Japan, where the official welcoming ceremony will be held for the Egyptian president to be followed by talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and a joint press conference.
