A governmental and commercial delegation from China has visited the headquarters of Abu Dhabi's Department of Economic Development, ADDED, as part of a visit to the UAE aimed to get a closer look at investment opportunities in the emirate and discuss improving investment ties between Abu Dhabi and China in various economic sectors and fields.
Comprising executive directors of several governmental entities and private sector companies, the Chinese delegation was briefed on Abu Dhabi Business Centre's role in implementing laws and rules regulating the emirate’s business sector, the role that free zones play and the main characteristics of Abu Dhabi 2017-2021 Industrial Strategy supervised by the Industrial Development Bureau. The Chinese delegation provided ADDED officials with information on Chinese meat, cars and the agriculture sector which constitute China’s main focus to boost trade exchange with the UAE in the coming years, such sectors are also important for the UAE in pursuance of achieving food security. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged information on investment opportunities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as the Department’s team shed light on the main investment projects across several focus sectors. The Chinese delegation stressed its dedication to promote economic activities in Abu Dhabi by opening branches for Chinese companies, capitalising on the opportunities and benefits the emirate provides, particularly in the industrial, business and exports sectors. The Chinese delegation concluded their trip by visiting the investment platform of the department, which was established to act as a focal point between developers and investors from private and semi-governmental sectors on the one hand, and interested foreign investors and developers on the other hand, dedicated to provide technical data and organise meetings with investors to clarify relevant information and respond to all investment-related inquiries. In 2016, the volume of trade exchange between Abu Dhabi and China amounted to AED14,399,540,000, with AED7,082,432,000 as Abu Dhabi’s imports from China, AED5,180,192,000 as Abu Dhabi’s non-oil exports to China, and AED2,136,916,000 as re-exports. |
