His Excellency Mohammed Thani Murshid Al-Rumaithi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, received His Excellency Samer Al-Munser, Ambassador of Tunisia to the UAE, at the Chamber’s tower in Abu Dhabi.
His Excellency Ibrahim Al-Mahmoud, 1st Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber; His Excellency Hameed Mohammed Bin Salem, Secretary General of the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI); Mr. Abdullah Ghurair Al-Qubaisi, Deputy Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber; and Mr. Rashid Taresh Al-Qubaisi, Executive Director of the Communication and Businesses Sector of the Chamber, attended the meeting. H.E. Al-Rumaithi welcomed the Tunisian ambassador expressing his pleasure with the meeting in which they discussed the ways of increasing joint investments between companies, businessmen and investors which, in turn, would contribute to increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries. “Abu Dhabi was able to transform into an economic center on the regional and international levels,” Al-Rumaithi said, adding: “It has become an investment destination for foreign companies desirous of entering regional markets thanks to its incentivized investment climate and the great opportunities it offers to regional and international investments.” “Within its development vision of diversifying production base and its economy as well as developing non-oil exports, Abu Dhabi is working towards supporting non-oil sectors including the mining sector, financial services, telecommunications, aviation and space industries, defense industries, pharmaceuticals, biotechnologies, tourism, education, healthcare, transportation, trade and logistics.” “Trade exchange between Abu Dhabi and Tunisia is witnessing rapid movement forward. Volume of non-oil commodities trade between the two sides reached AED 785 million in 2016, which requires exerting more efforts in the future for more development and growth,” he added. HE the Chairman expressed the readiness of the Abu Dhabi Chamber to provide all types of support to Tunisian companies desirous of investing in Abu Dhabi, noting that the Chamber possesses all the information and studies related to pivotal projects in the emirate. He added that the Chamber is also ready to provide consultation and advice to Tunisian investors and to direct them towards the sectors of high competiveness and high export capabilities. For his part, HE Samer Al-Munser, Ambassador of Tunisia to the UAE, expressed his pleasure with the meeting which emphasizes on the distinguished relationship between Tunisia and the UAE. “He pointed to the importance of holding joint meetings between the representatives of the private sector from the UAE and Tunisia in order to discuss economic and investment opportunities since there are many investment opportunities in Tunisia which Emirati companies can seize,” he said. The ambassador welcomed the proposal to organize an Emirati-Tunisian forum in which companies of the private sector can showcase economic and investment opportunities and hold strategic partnerships. “Tunisia is witnessing economic and legislative reforms which would encourage foreign businesses to invest in it and that would protect their rights and investments,” he added. |
