Trade and Industry Minister Amr Nassar opened the 16th edition of the annual Furnex and Home Exhibition that will last till February 24.
The exhibition is held under the aegis of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. It is organized by the Egyptian Furniture Export Council (EFEC), in cooperation with the Chamber of Wood Working and Furniture Industries (CWWFI). Speaking at the opening of the fair, Nassar, on behalf of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, said that the trade ministry launched an ambitious strategy to achieve sustainability in the furniture sector with the view to increasing value-added products and creating decent jobs. The strategy also aims at promoting exports of Egyptian furniture to foreign markets, Nassar added, noting that Egypt plans to export its furniture to the "promising" African market. Furnex and The Home is a specialized trade fair serving as a major platform and market place for both trade and public to source quality products for all home and business needs for furniture, furnishings, finishing and accessories. The exhibition hosts the top manufacturers, exporters and traders in Egypt serving both the domestic market, as well as the regional and international markets. Described as the largest trade fair in Africa in terms of size and number of exhibitors and visitors, it features the latest trends and design ideas in the entire continent. |
