Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has directed the bodies concerned to approve a set of amendments to the reconciliation law over building violations before the end of September, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said.
The new amendments are intended to fill the gaps in the existing law, the spokesman told Sada El Balad TV channel during a phone call on Monday evening. The amendments would allow reconciliation over certain violations that are not covered by the original law, the spokesman said, adding that they would also ease restrictions on maximum building heights. Speaking about the premier's meeting today with a group of tourism investors, the cabinet spokesman said the meeting tackled preparations for an economic conference that is scheduled to take place by the end of 2022 and set a roadmap for shoring up the national economy. He added that an economic paper will be drafted for debate during the upcoming conference. The spokesman revealed that as of next week, the premier is expected to hold separate meetings with Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) Mohamed Zaki El Sewedy and the heads of each affiliated communication division to discuss preparations for the upcoming conference. He noted that the conference will not conflict with the National Dialogue proposed by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in April, adding that everyone is invited to share their ideas about how to drive economic growth. Saad said Egypt moved up 19 positions in the UNDP's Human Development Index of 2021 thanks to the State's efforts to improve citizens' lives through the Decent Life Initiative as well as to propel the education and health sectors. Egypt's economy also achieved a 6.6 percent growth rate in the 2021-2022 fiscal year, the highest over the past 15 years, despite global challenges including the Russia-Ukraine crisis, the spokesman pointed out. |
