International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat along with UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova inspected Saturday several UN development projects in Aswan.
The inspection tour included investment projects in human capital, as well as the project to enhance climate resilience and food security. The minister and the UN official met with the students of a school in Kom Ombo, who together with their families, are part of school feeding and cash assistance programs. They also met with the women who benefit from the program of the first 1000 days from the child's life, which is part of "Takaful and Karama" program. The ‘First 1000 Days Program’ was launched in 2017 with a pilot between the government of Egypt and World Food Program (WFP) to support vulnerable mothers and their children (6-23 months). In 2020, the program was scaled-up to address the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on basic food and nutrition security. |
