Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzoury witnessed signing of the first package of loan agreement with the Japanese side to finance the first phase of underground line IV amounting to USD 392 million and total loan amounts to USD 1.28 billion with 10 years grace period and interest 0.2%. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Transport Dr. Galal Moustafa from the Egyptian side and President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) from the Japanese side. The first phase of 18 km extends from 6th October borders, West round road, passing by Al-Ahram St. to Giza station at line II, and linking it with line I with Al-Malk Al-Saleh station. This line expects to transport more than 2 million passengers daily between line I, II and III.
Before the agreement ceremony, Dr. Al-Ganzoury and JICA President discussed most important cooperation aspects between the Egyptian and Japanese side which varies over the recent period to include new fields including planning and supporting to the democratic transition, along to following-up on joint ventures such as the Egyptian Great Museum, Egyptian-Japanese University for Science and Technology, Energy Distribution Efficiency project, and slums development mechanisms.
