Ministers of the African Petroleum Producers Association (APPA) approved at their meeting on 22/03/2012 in Cairo an initiative by Egypt for the establishment of an African Petroleum Institute to be based in Cairo. They also decided to set a fund for APPA and discussed projects to be financed by the fund.
Prime Minister Kamal Al Ganzouri said in his inaugural speech that Egypt is keen for supporting cooperation and integration with all African oil-producing countries and that Egypt is ready to offer its expertise in carrying out energy and oil projects as well as the manufacture of related equipment. Egypt is ready to provide training courses for workers of the field. In his speech read out by Minister of Petroleum, Abdullah Ghorab, Ganzouri added that Egypt seeks to expand the base of cooperation among oil producer countries.
