Minister of Civil Aviation Abdel-Aziz Fadel expects the aviation sector to attract investments worth 20 billion dollars within 10 years.
During his speech at the Egyptian-Gulf Investment Forum, Fadel said the ministry plans to increase the number of its airplanes to 127 by 2025. He added that civil aviation is an important stimulus for the Egyptian economy and investment, contributing to 2.1% of the economy and providing about 197,000 jobs. Fadel said that the ministry plans also to develop areas surrounding airports and improve health care services provided for staffers. Transit services have increased by about 25% to 30% during the past few years and the number of passengers reached 27 million during 2011, said Fadel. He also expected the number of passengers to increase to 68 million in the period between 2020 and 2025. |
