Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker has inspected a solar power plant at Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI).
During a field tour on 8/4/2014, Shaker and head of the organization lieutenant General Abdel Aziz Seif Al-Nasr discussed ways to promote cooperation. The government has taken a decision to use solar energy during the coming period, Shaker said. He hailed a solar power plant constructed by the organization on Egypt-Suez road with a capacity of 600 KW as a model for generating clean energy. On the other hand, Shaker pointed out that an expanded meeting is decided to be held in the finance ministry headquarters before the end of this month for discussing means of securing finance required for turning 1,000 government buildings into working via solar energy and at a cost of LE27 million for the first stage that includes 50 buildings. Add to that, Shaker warned against the aggravation of the power cut crisis, asserting that the government insists on using the new and renewable energy, especially the solar energy for reducing loads and generating power in the coming period. |
