Egypt's Consul General in Milan Ali el-Halawani said that a large number of Italian factories operating in garment, textiles and furniture expressed their willingness to transfer their works to the Egyptian market to capitalize on its position as a main gate to the Arab region and Africa.
El-Halawani statements came during his participation in Milan Furniture Fair, where he visited the seven Egyptian exhibitors there. As many as 1,700 exhibitors from 160 countries participate in the fair, held on April 8-13. He added that the Italian factories have agreements under which their products would have free access to new markets. He further pointed out that such a step would boost direct foreign investments to Egypt. For his part, Head of Egypt's Bureau Economic Services Plenipotentiary Nasser Hamed emphasized Milan's keenness on turning Damietta into an international capital for furniture. |
