 Prime Minister Sherif Ismail highlighted the importance of depending on local industrial components as part of efforts to decrease dependence on imports.
This came during Ismail's meeting with representatives of General Electric Company under President and CEO of GE Middle East Nabil Habayeb. Ministers of electricity, transport, international cooperation, and investment took part in the meeting. GE representatives briefed the premier on proposed projects for cooperation with Egypt. The premier hailed the projects which, he said, cover many areas of development and go in consistence with the state's efforts to improve the services provided to citizens and achieve economic growth. He called on the company to rely on local manufacturing components in various projects, especially in the new and renewable energy and transport sectors, in a manner which contributes to the support of the national economy and the reduction of imports, and helps provide many job opportunities. According to the company representatives, Egypt is a strategic partner. They expressed keenness to take necessary steps to maintain partnership through the implementation of development and service projects and pumping new investments into the country. |
