Ambassador Mohammad “Badr al-Din Zayed”, Egypt's ambassador in Pretoria, announced that the Egyptian exports to South Africa has achieved a significant increase during 2011, rising by 35% to reach $ 56 million compared to exports in 2010, which stood at $ 41 million, as Egyptian imports decreased from South Africa in 2011 by 40% to reach $ 88 million. “Badr al-Din Zayed” added that contacts are under way to determine the date of the Joint Working Group between Egypt and South Africa on industrial goods, in order to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the industrial field.
The Egyptian Embassy and our trade office in Pretoria has recently arranged a visit of a delegation of companies of Export Council for Egyptian chemical fertilizers to South Africa, where he signed a number of contracts with South African companies. It should be noted that the increase of Egyptian exports to South Africa are concentrated in non-petroleum products such as chemicals, vegetables and fruits. |
