The UAE participated in the 36th session of the Arab Commission for the Unified Customs Tariff that began at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, in the presence of the representatives from the Arab customs bodies.
Tariq Abdullah Bourhima, Chairman of the Customs Affairs Department at the Federal Customs Authority, represented the UAE at the five-day meeting. The meeting held under the chairmanship of Abdulaziz Al Mughira, Head of Coordinating System Affairs and Integrated Customs Tariff Department at the Saudi Ministry of Finance, will discuss updating the common customs tariff schedule for Arab nations in accordance with the harmonised system updates issued by the World Customs Organisation in 2017. The commission will also review the recommendations of the Arab countries on the unified customs tariff schedule and the recommendations of the Arab Commission to negotiate tariffs operations, and prepare the list of banned and restricted goods, Al Mughira stressed. It will discuss the proposal of Lebanon to hold a workshop in collaboration with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia to discuss the efficiency of the negotiating mechanism, he added. |
